Community Website
Did you know that Lake San Marcos has a community website? It is located at www.QuailCall.com . The website is managed by the Lake San Marcos Community Association and is being updated and expanded continually to be a source of information about Lake San Marcos. Some of the things you will find here are: History of the area, Photos and Virtual Tours of Lake San Marcos, Past Newspaper Articles, Lake San Marcos Community Association, The Lighted Cross, and a Map of the area. We are excited about adding a new feature to the website called "Letters & Opinions" in which residents can post information, questions, or opinions on items of interest to Lake San Marcos residents. All residents are welcome to post, just read the guidelines first. We are hopeful that timely information, questions, or opinions, may help open lines of communication between neighbors, similar to the "Letters to the Editor" section of the local newspapers. It is also hoped that neighborhood rumors may be either put to rest or confirmed by those who know. Since so much communication in Lake San Marcos is word of mouth, this will help to share and spread correct information. If you have an idea to share or an opinion to give, please email it to letters@QuailCall.com
We are also in the process of expanding the website to include information on all of the clubs and organizations. We will include links to club websites or provide pages for the clubs to post information about their organization, contact information, and an events calendar so that residents and members can reach them easily. If you are a Club President, please contact me at Clubs@quailcall.com so I can provide a link or help to set up a page for your organization.
Lago De San Marcos Project
The County of San Diego is proposing adoption of a Mitigated Negative Declaration on the Lago De San Marcos project located on the corner of Rancho Santa Fe Rd and Lake San Marcos Dr. The 1.97 acre development will consist of 42 multi level condominiums, each with a two car garage. Comments on the proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration must be received no later than April 12, 2008. Over the past couple of years, LSMCA has met with the developer and County Supervisor Bill Horn regarding this project. Our concerns have been traffic patterns, parking issues, noise issues, and the affects of this project on Lake San Marcos residents, especially the residents of Hunter Valley that back to the complex. Many of our objections have been heard. The complex was redesigned to allow only one entrance and exit which lines up with the existing median opening on Lake San Marcos Dr. Additionally, the design was changed to move the units away from the rear of the property thereby lessening the impact on Hunter Valley residents. Changes were also made to maximize parking and eliminate recreational facilities. While this is still not the complex that would be perfect for Lake San Marcos, it is much better than originally planned. The Mitigated Negative Declaration can be viewed on our website www.QuailCall.com. Additionally, copies may be found at the San Marcos Library or the Carlsbad library.
