President’s Message by Jacque Baker

Vallecitos Water District gave a short presentation at the September meeting of the Lake San Marcos Community Association on some sewer line replacements that are planned for Lake San Marcos early next year and the Board was concerned about making sure those repairs were properly communicated to our residents and coordinated with the County who is undertaking a repaving project in our area.  There will be more about this project coming out in the near future.  Lake San Marcos has some sewer lines that are too small and outdated to handle the growing community needs and we welcome the attention given to this by Vallecitos Water District.

Residents of Country Greens received a letter from Citizens Development Corporation in September regarding CDC putting up a chain link fence between the Executive Golf Course and homes in Country Greens.  The letter the homeowners received was very intimidating and a strong handed effort by CDC to force the Homeowners Association of Country Greens into signing a Recreational Lease. LSMCA is equally disturbed by the tactics stated in the letter and we quickly responded to CDC, urging them to STOP this type of threatening activity and to TAKE DOWN this fence.   If this continues, there is sure to be legal repercussions and much ill will generated in our community at a time when CDC should want and need community support.  Most residents in Lake San Marcos can not understand the reasoning of a business using threats rather than good customer service in enticing people to do business with them. This is not the message that a successful company sends to its customers. We are asking CDC to sit down with us and discuss a better way of getting the cooperation and good will of our residents and finding a common solution to these important lease issues.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is giving a series of presentations on October 23rd on Identity Theft.  This is a growing crime, one that especially targets the elderly and most vulnerable people in our society.  They are holding these presentations in several locations nearby.  One presentation is at San Marcos City Hall at 7 pm.  Another is at Champagne Village Hall at Lawrence Welk at 11:30 am. We encourage anyone wishing more information on this growing crime to attend one of these free presentations.

Mark your Calendars, the annual membership meeting of the LSMCA will be held on Tuesday November 18 at 7 pm. Look for ballots for our annual election of the Board of Directors in the next issue of the Quail Call.  We thank all of our members for their continuing support to the important work we do on behalf of ALL of Lake San Marcos residents.  Without our unified voice, our special community as we know it would cease to be, torn apart by special interests.  The Quail Call is just one way we communicate to all residents of the issues important to all of us.  We also have a website  QuailCall.com  where your opinions and ideas are welcome.  There you will also find up to date information on community events, LSM history, and plenty of photos.
