President’s Message from John Andrew "‘Webster’s New World Dictionary’ defines awareness as knowing or realizing; conscious; informed; conscious implies awareness of a sensation, feeling, fact, condition, etc
" It is very important as residents of We have chosen to live on a lake and much of what we do every day affects our lake. The fertilizers, the car soap, the bug sprays, oil drips from cars and animal waste all impact the condition of our lake. When it rains, everything washes into the lake. Some of this runoff cause bacteria, fungus and algae to grow and die in the lake. As it settles, to the bottom the lake becomes shallow. Soon the lake turns into a mud flat and is too shallow for boats or fish. You may say that this will take much longer than I will be around, so I don’t need to worry. However, we must do whatever is necessary now to slow this process. That means using biodegradable fertilizers, soaps, and bug sprays, and stop oil leaks from our cars and trucks. Grasses, leaves, and animal waste that collect in our gutters should be picked up and disposed of in your trash containers. If we all do our part, we will help stretch the time we and those who come after us have to enjoy our beautiful lake. The Regional Water Board is currently supporting a complete analysis of our lake. This analysis will detail all the problems that impact our lake and offer solutions to correct them. All of the entities that are involved with the lake will be a part of the analysis. This will include but not be limited to Vallecitos Water, the City of All lake residents should be aware that the Board of Country Greens is stonewalling their residents, the majority of whom wish to sign a new lake and lodge lease with CDC. The Community Association is strongly in favor of enacting the current lake and lodge lease, as stated in my January message. CDC has offered Country Greens a lease that is every bit as good as the leases that Sunrise Point, The Colony and individual homeowners have. At the last Country Greens general forum, the actual Board meeting is closed to residents, the Board told residents they would not act until they heard from CDC. Actually they heard from CDC two months earlier, in December, when they were given a great lease and were told that they did not need to pay retroactive fees if they signed in December. At this January forum, one board member had the gall to say the Board would have to renegotiate this excellent lease even if they would agree to sign. The majority of Country Greens Residents want the lease signed! They want the dissention being created by the Board to end! The majority of the Lake San Marcos Community wants Country Greens Board to sign the lease and end the dissention! Get with it Country Greens Board, act like adults and sign the lease in accordance with your residents wishes. Our annual |
